Small family garden with everything!
This garden had an unused drive that the owners wanted to take away to make more space for living in. There was a BnB annexe, which needed a small drive, adjoining a garden room and studio, facing the house. There was no privacy for the family or the BnB guests.
The clients were a couple with a young son, and needed space for him to play, space to grow vegetables and also an entertaining / dining space.
The house faced northeast and the owners initially wanted to have a shaded shelter fixed to the house wall, however as this would make the house darker, we instead used a sunsail in front of the garden room for shelter.
Jane Harries Garden Designs designed a simple layout with places to dine near the house, to relax at the end of the garden surrounded by plants, to grow vegetables and to play. Play space included a lawn, two small ponds and a blackboard and sandpit. A screen with a Moroccan design cut out at intervals was installed to divide the BnB from the garden. There is also a green wall on the fence near the house, to break up the expanse of the fence without adding any more shrubs. The garden has been well constructed to fit the family’s exact needs and they are very pleased with it.
